Sep 23, 2019 · I've never thought of using one and I never cared if my bikes get scratched. To me, scratches show that I get the most out of my bikes. And for some reason, I associate top tube protectors with cheap Walmart bikes for kids.

What does a top tube protector protect from? From the handlebar spinning knocking into the top tube in a crash or drop and denting it. Old tube and electrical tape. Etsy has lots of options. Had a used lizardskin bar grip and just cut it and taped it. Skout Velo personally crash tested. I just use a bit of left over bar tape. whats their use?

Because the question came up in another post, here's why I wrapped the top tube. It protects it from dings and dents, especially when there would be metal on metal contact without it. Just some bar tape scraps wrapped with good ol' electrical tape.
