It's not impossible, as we use it today for the board stuff, but compared to other tools it's just miles behind in functionality. And most other tools, like Roll20 and such, are supporting way more than DnD.

Town maps tend to be scaled to the buildings, rather than distance, because the players are interacting with structures, rather than creatures. Regional maps, like the Barovia Map, uses 1/4 mile hexes and takes about 1 day (8 hours) to cross, as the crow flies.

Feb 20, 2018 · Strategic (town layout) and tactical (dungeon/room) maps I like to have a general outline drawn and enlist the players to provide some specific locations or environmental details, which I then place. Helps create more player agency and let you know what they are looking for :-)
