A well advertised winter storm will bring heavy snow for some this morning, with clearing skies during the afternoon and evening hours.

Although it usually happens once or twice a year, this will be a very big snow for the tops of the volcanoes in Hawaii. One to two feet of snow will be possible.

Heavy snow and high winds are forecast to impact travel on Oregon’s Cascade Mountain roads and passes from Thursday night into Saturday afternoon.

From national parks to crucial access routes and rural communities, the expected rough weather is forcing closures across the island chain.
