Two Philadelphia men were charged with murder for shooting and killing a 70-year-old Delaware County man during a weekend carjacking in West Philadelphia, police said Tuesday.

Wanted on an outstanding warrant, a Westfield man fled when a State Police trooper tried to stop him Wednesday, which led to a nearly seven-mile pursuit that ended with him and his Jeep stuck in the woods off West Road and officers pepper spraying and tasing him before taking him into custody.

Samuel Bond Haskell IV, 37, was found inside his cell at Twin Towers downtown jail with what investigators believe were self-inflicted injuries, according to law enforcement sources.

The alleged murderer left a suicide note on Saturday, and police discussed the collected evidence in a press release.
