Georgia’s $7.75 billion commercial poultry industry – one of the largest in the nation – was working Tuesday to keep bird flu from spreading after a case was confirmed in an operation in Elbert County.

All poultry activities have been suspended in Georgia after bird flu was confirmed in a commercial poultry operation, officials said Friday.

According to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control, the current bird flu outbreak has caused 67 human cases of bird flu in the U.S. and one death associated with the virus.
