GAINESVILLE, Fla.-- The NCAA Transfer Portal is officially closed. Well, kind of. The winter window to enter the portal, which opened on Dec. 9 and ran through Dec. 28, closed on Sunday, meaning players who wish to enter will have to wait until when the spring portal window opens on April 16.

Over the last 4-6 weeks, the Florida Gators and head coach Billy Napier have been on a recruiting heater. The Gators finished with the 11th-ranked recruiting class in the nation after flipping multiple four-star recruits ahead of early signing day.

The Gators bolstered their QB room with former Charlotte 49er Deshawn Purdie, who committed to the Gators via the transfer portal on Sunday.

A four-star recruit from Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian, Burke signed with the Gators as then-head coach Dan Mullen's final recruiting class. He played in three games as a freshman, where he recorded two receptions for 73 yards.

Most teams aren’t satisfied with a 7-5 season, but this is one of the few that is actually looked at as a success. Billy Napier was fighting for his job this season, and he showed that he can lead this team as Florida picked up some impressive wins throughout the year.

The Florida Gators need to find replacements for the departing Chimere Dike and Elijhah Badger, and USC transfer Zachariah Branch may be a fit.

The two highest-rated recruits transferring into the program are EDGE Kelby Collins, a former four-star recruit from the 2023 recruiting class of the Florida Gators, and interior offensive lineman Kam Dewberry, a former four-star recruit from the 2022 recruiting class of the Texas A&M Aggies.
