An 18-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly throwing a water bottle onto the field at Rice-Eccles Stadium and hitting a member of the BYU cheerleading team. University of Utah Police said they arrested the man on suspicion of assault Tuesday. So far, there have been no formal charges filed.

William Gardner, 18, faces one charge of assault, a Class A misdemeanor, for allegedly throwing the bottle that hit Jocelyn Allan as she stood on the sidelines of Rice-Eccles Stadium.

The University of Utah police department arrested an 18-year-old individual Tuesday after a member of BYU's travel party alleged she was hit with a water bottle during the Cougars' rivalry tilt at Rice-Eccles Stadium over the weekend.
