RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina Democratic Gov.-elect Josh Stein’s veto could become more effective than outgoing Gov. Roy Cooper’s stamp has been recently, should the margin in a legislative district election hold for their party.

Without veto-proof majorities in both legislative chambers, Republicans will need support from Democrats to override gubernatorial vetoes -- especially now that Democrat Josh Stein is bound for the Governor's Mansion.

The state has now gone to Donald J. Trump in all three of his presidential bids, underscoring his political strength there.
