Forsyth County Sgt. Daniel Rush died on Monday night after a week-long battle with a critical illness. Rush was the longest continuous serving member of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. He was awarded the FCSO Purple Heart after he was shot in the line of duty by a gunman on the steps of Forsyth County Courthouse in 2014.
