Residents on the popular island of Santorini have experienced hundreds of earthquakes this week while researchers have revealed a new magma chamber underneath the Kolumbo submarine volcano.

Repeated earthquakes are rattling Greece’s volcanic island of Santorini. Scientists say the quakes aren't related to a slight increase in volcanic activity that has also been registered recently.

Concern is growing over a series of repeated tremors that have been taking place near the volcanic Greek island of Santorini. Other nearby islands in the Aegean Sea have also been affected during the last few weeks but as the earthquakes have become stronger and more perceptible, it is Santorini that has become the focus of attention.
