Sullivan is already at work building relationships with Rangers players, and his relationship with GM Chris Drury is clearly strong.

The New York Rangers missed the postseason this past year and immediately began searching for a new head coach. New York quickly landed on former Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan, and the team believes that he can be the person to lead them forward.

“My message … is that talent alone doesn’t win. You’ve got to become a team. You can’t score your way to championships. You’ve got to be able to defend and keep it out of your net,” Sullivan told MSG Network after his introductory press conference Thursday. “If you’re committed and you value those things, then you give yourself a chance.”
