Second-generation Chromecast users have been facing an outage since several days, and Google has now apologized for it. But where's the fix?

Many people using older Chromecast devices experienced a shock in recent days when their units lost the ability to cast content. The company ended the brand last year, which led folks to think that this was a planned obsolescence of some kind.

Users of ageing Chromecast and Chromecast Audio devices can't currently Cast. The issue appears to be at Google's end and a fix is promised "soon", but users are warned not to factory reset their devices.
