Final Fantasy VII Rebirth broke out of its PS5 containment cell to emerge on PC on January 23, 2025. Here, the open-world RPG ostensibly improves its arguably disappointing technical performance and presentation issues on console by way of more powerful CPU and GPU combos available in the PC gaming world.

Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth has finally ambled its way over to PC, and it's landing with—hold your breath—moderate to solid success! Please imagine me firing some party poppers at your leisure. As seen on the game's SteamDB page, Rebirth has thus far enjoyed a peak concurrent player count of around 40,000, which is none too shabby.

Following its recent launch on PC, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth broke a concurrent-players record on Steam for single-player entries in the franchise over the weekend. The RPG--which initially launched on PS5 in February 2024--saw over 40,000 people exploring the game with Cloud Strife and his friends.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has become the biggest single-player release of the series on Steam by CCU, beating both FF15 and FF16.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC has now set the record for highest concurrent player count on Steam for a single-player Final Fantasy game.

Evidently, FF7 Rebirth is another SSD -hogging gigantogame, though for some the bigger concern will be those minimum GPU specs. While none of the Radeon, RX 6600, Arc A580, or RTX 2060 are high-end cards in themselves, the official listings' emphasis on meeting at least these specific hardware generations does reveal an unusually high fussiness.

Rebirth beat out FF7 Remake and Final Fantasy 16 handily, and only trails behind the Final Fantasy 14 MMO in the series' PC releases.
