As December comes to a close and the new year approaches, cold waves are set to sweep across several parts of India.

North India is reeling under cold weather with temperatures plummeting across several states. As per IMD, the minimum temperature in Delhi today is 12°C, with a thin layer of fog enveloping parts of the national capital.

The maximum temperature in Delhi is forecasted at 16 degrees Celsius with mostly clear skies. However, air quality has dropped to ’poor’ at an AQI of 230, while humidity is at 95 percent.

The weather agency has predicted cold wave to severe cold wave conditions in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
