Aaron Glenn told everyone to put their seatbelts on during his press conference. Now, we are beginning to find out who is driving the Jets bus with him.

New York hired Glenn, most recently the Detroit Lions defensive coordinator, as their next head coach, ahead of his scheduled in-person interview with New Orleans. It’s a five-year deal, according to league sources.

The New York Jets landed one of the most coveted candidates in this head coaching cycle, as former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn is in New York to turn things around. One of the biggest questions surrounding Glenn was whether he would continue calling the defense like he did with the Lions.

He becomes the fifth NFL head coach to have a playing history with his current team, after Mike Vrabel (New England Patriots), Jim Harbaugh (Los Angeles Chargers), DeMeco Ryans (Houston Texans) and Dan Campbell, his most recent boss in Detroit.

The New York Jets are bringing back the passing game coordinator position on their coaching staff under Aaron Glenn. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Scott Turner formerly of the Las Vegas Raiders was hired in New York as the team’s passing game coordinator.

Glenn and the Jets will need to hire assistant all across the locker room in New York to help out the new head coach, from the various coordinator positions to positional-specific roles. Those hires are slowly starting to be announced.

Aaron Glenn has already made hires for the most important spots on his coaching staff, but over the last couple of days the Jets have brought in additional coaches. Scott Turner will serve as the team’s passing game coordinator.
