After winning six out of eight games to start December, it seemed the Utah Hockey Club would be happy heading into the new year. However, things quickly changed for the team.

NHL teams are allowed to have up to three players wearing letters on their jerseys in each game. Keller and Crouse are permanent, while the third “A” rotates between a number of other veterans. So far, the group has consisted of Kerfoot, Sergachev, Ian Cole and Nick Schmaltz.

After claiming defenseman Nick DeSimone off waivers from the New Jersey Devils earlier today, the Utah Hockey Club had one too many players on their active roster.

CALGARY -- Lawson Crouse scored twice, and the Utah Hockey Club rallied for a 5-3 win against the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome on Thursday. Clayton Keller had a goal and an assist, and Logan Cooley scored for Utah (17-15-6), who had lost five straight (0-4-1). Karel Vejmelka made 23 saves.

The Utah Hockey Club and Dallas Stars have been familiar with each other this season and over the past month, as they played two games in Utah in December. However, the Stars can add to their 2-0 record against the NHL’s newest team when they host them for the first time.
