India squads for England ODI series and Champions Trophy LIVE Updates: The BCCI has reportedly added Sitanshu Kotak as batting coach for the upcoming T20 and ODI series at home against England. Sitanshu Kotak will be joining Team India camp in Kolkata on 18 January before the England series that starts in Kolkata on 22 January.

TOI has learnt that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is seriously exploring the possibility of appointing former domestic stalwart Sitanshu Kotak, currently the India A head coach, as Team India's batting coach.

India's batting repeatedly came under the scanner during the five-match Test series against Australia. Apart from the second innings in Perth and to some extent the first innings in Brisbane, India never batted well and were always under pressure.

Kotak has been head coach of several India A tours, and served as assistant coach to Laxman during the Ireland T20Is, and has been a batting coach at the NCA since 2019

The Indian team’s abysmal batting performances in the past few months that led to a historic 3-0 whitewash against New Zealand at home before surrendering the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in a decade,

India has been under fire following consecutive series defeats: a 0-3 loss to New Zealand at home and a 1-3 drubbing in Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Both losses highlighted glaring issues with India's batting lineup.

Kotak flew to Australia with the India A side in November 2024 and is currently the head coach of the India A team.
