Organizations in Fresno and Clovis are encouraging the public to leave heartfelt messages for local veterans this Valentine’s Day. HandsOn Central California (HOCC) says they are teaming up with Starbucks and Amy’s Hallmark to get the community to shed some love for those who fought for our freedom.

All you lovebirds out there know that in just a couple of short weeks, Valentine's Day will be upon us. Some people say that the holiday comes from the Roman festival of Lupercalia, but others claim it originated with the martyrdom of a Christian priest named Valentine.

Once you're there, you'll be able to sweetly saunter by all of the pink-and-white lights placed hither and yon — the property's stately oaks and lavender fields will be draped in illumination — and dine upon Valentine's-inspired treats and eats for a separate price.

The Grind, 220 N. Chadbourne St., will have a lights and lattes custom candle workshop on Friday, Feb. 14 from 4-6 p.m. Julie from Ethereal Sol will be guiding you through the process of creating your own custom candles. Reserve your spot online.
