Members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association get to pick five players when they vote for the winner of the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s rookie of the year, and San Jose Sharks center Macklin Celebrini figures to be at or near the top of the list considering the year he’s had so far.

Against a Stanley Cup contender in the Maple Leafs, the Sharks came back from a 2-0 third-period deficit to win in a shootout. They followed that performance with a 6-2 trouncing of the Sabres, leaving Buffalo — which had high expectations coming into the season — re-evaluating things going into Friday’s trade deadline.

The Ottawa Senators have acquired forward Fabian Zetterlund in a trade with the San Jose Sharks centred around prospect Zach Ostapchuk. Ottawa also receives former-second round pick Tristen Robins, and a fourth round-pick from San Jose.
