Hockey insider Elliotte Friedman has linked San Jose Sharks forward Luke Kunin as a potential trade candidate for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Friedman discussed Kunin during his latest 32 Thoughts podcast,
Welcome to another edition of NHL Rumours. There is an understanding that the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to add at the trade deadline. They’ve been testing the waters for a middle-six forward, specifically a centre.
Luke Kunin is faster this season. “He’s moving better,” San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky said in training camp. That’s what it looks like on the ice too: Kunin has 10 goals in 47 games, on pace for a career-high 17.
Sharks alternate captain Luke Kunin quickly dropped the gloves with Predators forward Cole Smith at the 6:54 mark. Right after the ensuing faceoff, Barclay Goodrow fought Nashville winger Michael McCarron at the 6:56 mark. Two seconds after the next faceoff, Ty Dellandrea had a quick scrap with Zachaery L’Heureux.
NASHVILLE — San Jose Sharks visit Bridgestone Arena to take on the Nashville Predators. Macklin Celebrini and Luke Kunin and Mikael Granlund (twice) and Jake Walman scored, but the Sharks lost 7-5. Period 1 Celebrini goal: Snipe!
Mathew Barzal and Brock Nelson each had a goal and an assist and the New York Islanders beat the San Jose Sharks 4-1.
Will Smith had a goal and assist for the Sharks in a 6-3 loss to the Bruins in his homecoming on Monday before San Jose also lost 7-5 at Nashville
Both things can be true. Luke Kunin, Barclay Goodrow and Ty Dellandrea’s back-to-back-to-back fights, the San Jose Sharks down 3-0 just 6:53 into the game, did spark the team’s spirited comeback. The Sharks would lose 6-5 to the Nashville Predators,
The goaltending matchup featured Nashville's Justus Annunen against San Jose's Yaroslav Askarov, the Predators' first-round draft pick in 2020 who requested a trade out of Nashville last August after the team signed Juuse Saros to an eight-year contract extension. Annunen made 30 saves on 35 shots, while Askarov made 32 saves on 38 shots.
The Predators are likely to start Juuse Saros, who is looking for his 12th win of the season. The Sharks started former Predators prospect Yaroslav Askarov in net in Monday's 6-3 loss in Boston; they will likely will start Alexandar Georgiev on Tuesday.
Macklin Celebrini scored his NHL rookie-leading 15th goal and Mario Ferraro his career-high fifth for the Sharks in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the visiting Predators.
