The University of Mississippi Lady Rebels took on their rival school the Mississippi State University Lady Bulldogs Sunday.

The Rebels fell behind 14-2 early on Saturday, and much of the first half seemed to be in Mississippi State's favor. Ole Miss was outrebounded by a wide margin before halftime (and finished the game 51-29 in that category), opening up the door for a lot of second-chance opportunities for the Bulldogs.

Ole Miss Rebels women's basketball has had an up-and-down experience so far in conference play, but they picked up a road conference win on Sunday over in-state foe Mississippi State in Starkville by a final score of 71-63.

Bates scored 26 points and Grill added 25 as No. 22 MU held off the No. 16 Rebels (15-5, 4-3), winning 83-75 in a Southeastern Conference showdown of ranked teams. Next up: The Tigers are back in action Saturday, Feb. 1, with a trip to Starkville, Miss., to face Mississippi State. Tipoff is set for noon Central Time.

Part of that high-scoring affair was thanks to former Ole Miss Rebels wide receiver AJ Brown. The Eagles set an NFL playoff record with seven rushing touchdowns, but the team's other score came thanks to the hands of Brown who hauled in a four-yard pass from quarterback Jalen Hurts.
