When the NFL regular season comes to a close, it sends the head-coaching carousel into high gear. The 2025 cycle is in full swing and began with seven openings across the NFL.  The cycle kicked off with the New England Patriots hiring Mike Vrabel after moving on from Jerod Mayo after one season,

The Las Vegas Raiders have found their next head coach. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Pete Carroll has agreed to a three-year deal to become the team’s head coach. There is also a team option in the fourth year.

Pete Carroll left his throne as the NFL’s oldest head coach for exactly 380 days. Now he’s back to reclaim it with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Carroll has always been equal parts fun and ferocious — sometimes his drive to build competition inside the roster is overshadowed by his positive personality. For all of the memorable success of Wilson and running back Marshawn Lynch in Seattle, it was always the legendary Legion of Boom defense that set the tone.

Perhaps the worst head coaching hire Davis has made was Josh McDaniels. He didn’t even make it through two full seasons as the head coach before he was fired. He decided to take the 2024 season off after the Raiders debacle but is coming back to the NFL.

Carroll, 73, is the oldest coach in the NFL, and this will be his third stop as a head coach in the league after stints with Seattle and the New England Patriots (1997-99). He led the Seahawks to a Super Bowl win over the Denver Broncos a decade ago, and now he'll start up with a new organization again.

Carroll, 73, returns to coaching just over a year since he parted with the Seahawks. He replaces the fired Antonio Pierce with the Raiders. Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback for the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, became a part-owner of the Raiders in October and played a central role in the team’s coaching search.

The Las Vegas Raiders are negotiating a deal to hire Pete Carroll to be their new head coach, a person with knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press on Friday.

Through the last couple of weeks, the Patriots, Jets, and Bears found their Head Coaches. New England brought back a former player, and former Tennessee Titans Head Coach Mike Vrabel. The Bears brought in arguably the hottest candidate in the hiring cycle this year and last year,
