Space enthusiasts will want to keep their eyes on the sky Tuesday morning. West Michigan will have a chance at seeing the Lyrid meteor shower radiate the skies.

The best time to view the Lyrids is when Lyra, the Northern Hemisphere constellation from which the meteors appear to radiate, is above the horizon, according to EarthSky . As the comet travels, it leaves a trail of ice and dust moving thousands of miles per hour in its wake, astronomer Dean Regas said.

Active since last week, the shower is formed from a comet’s debris and is forecast to produce the most fireballs overnight.
