Tax preparation company H&R Block Inc on Thursday sued payment company Block Inc, previously called Square Inc, saying the new name infringed its trademarks.

H&R Block claims Block Inc., the company that owns Cash App and Square, used a confusingly similar name and logo for tax services after its 2021 rebrand.

Starting this month, H&R Block’s tax preparers are using IBM’s computer system Watson to help them maximize deductions for customers. The H&R Block experience is not going to change that much.
