Mosquitoes are testing positive for the West Nile virus in Louisville's Highlands and Tyler Park neighborhoods.

The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness (LMPHW) is warning residents of diseased mosquitoes. According to a notice dated Tuesday, July 8, a surveillance trap in the Tyler Park neighborhood and nearby areas of the Highlands reportedly uncovered mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus.

Mosquito fogging, a preventative measure to decrease infection and the bug’s population, will take place later this week after West Nile was detected in bugs in a surveillance trap.
