India is ready to make trade deals in the national interest, but not just to meet deadlines, Trade Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday when asked whether a deal could be reached with the U.S. in time for a July 9 deadline set by Washington.

Trade pacts between two countries are "not bound by deadlines", Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday, amid the ongoing talks between India and the United States for a bilateral trade agreement.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that India is engaged in bilateral talks with various countries, including the US. "It should be a win-win agreement," the Minister has said, adding that India will agree only to a mutually beneficial deal.
