A Texas sheriff says the deaths from flash flooding in central Texas has risen to 27 people, including nine children.Search and rescue efforts were continuing in the Texas Hill Country, Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha said at a press conference Saturday morning.

At least 24 people are dead and more than 20 campers are missing after flash floods tore through Texas, prompting massive rescue efforts and leaving families desperate for answers.

Renee Smajstrla and Janie Hunt were among the two dozen campers who were washed away in the deadly Guadalupe River flash floods.
