Boosted in part by two pivotal Arizona races, Republicans have won a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, helping to cement total GOP control over the federal government’s elected bodies.

Democrat Ruben Gallego is elected Arizona’s first Latino U.S. senator, defeating Trump ally Kari Lake and preventing Republicans from padding their majority.

Republicans have won enough seats to control the U.S. House, completing the party’s sweep into power and securing their hold on U.S. government alongside President-elect Donald Trump.
