The U.S. Justice Department is petitioning the Supreme Court not to entertain President-elect Donald Trump's attempts to influence the court's decision related to a law that would ban TikTok in just over two weeks.

The conference also rejected a conservative group's request to similarly refer liberal Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Justice Department .

The briefs, filed a week before oral arguments, offered sharply differing accounts of China’s influence over the site and the role of the First Amendment.
