Tampa Bay Buccaneers outside linebacker Shaq Barrett told reporters Thursday that his coming out of retirement isn't just for the Bucs' playoff run - he wants to continue playing after that for at least another two or three years.

With Tampa Bay’s defense burdened with multiple injuries throughout this season, Barrett hopes to be a key factor as the Bucs attempt a playoff push over the final two games. The Bucs face the Panthers on Sunday, while the Falcons will play the Commanders.

Before Shaquil Barrett committed to an NFL comeback of any kind, he wanted to be certain about what he was coming back to. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, informed Barrett that at least two teams had inquired about his interest in playing football again: the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles.

“We appreciate the Dolphins giving Shaq this opportunity to continue his career in the NFL,” Barrett’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told Schefter. “Hopefully he will pass through waivers and become a free agent so he can play again this season. He is in great shape and would be ready to play immediately.”
