Ukraine says it has used an adapted air-to-air missile fired from an uncrewed surface vessel (USV), better known as a drone boat, to down a Russian Mi-8 Hip helicopter over the Black Sea earlier today.

Russia launched new strikes on Ukraine's territory during the afternoon of Friday, January 3, using missiles and drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. The attacks occurred between 12:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.

Footage of the plane shows traces of a large surface-to-air missile impact on the tail section of the plane, according to Russian independent media outlet Meduza.

Ukraine plans to significantly boost its production capacity for drones and missiles. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that in 2025, the country aims to produce 30,000 long-range drones and 3,000 cruise missiles and missile drones.
