Revels was held on a $15,000 bond and Wray was held on a $60,000 bond. The Ford Fusion was located in the 900 block of Oakmont Place and was towed to the city lot.

The New Mexico Supreme Court vacated the murder conviction of Mawu Ekon Revels. Revels was convicted of killing Nicodemus Gonzales during a 2021 shooting at a house party in Las Cruces.
