The $77 million initiative will fund six months of overtime for more than 1,000 officers, including 300 cops on overnight subway patrols and 750 in stations and on platforms.

While crime in NYC dropped by three percent in 2024, city officials are adding 200 NYPD officers to the subway after a string of high-profile incidents.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul wants "to see more uniformed police officers" on New York City subway trains to combat crime, she said in her State of the State address.

The $77 million strategy will put 750 more police officers on platforms and in stations and 300 more officers on overnight trains.
