The latest Safe Haven baby brings 2024’s total to eight babies relinquished to Iowa HHS. Iowa HHS took in 10 infants under the Safe Haven Act in 2023. In total, 74 infants have been relinquished to HHS custody under the Safe Haven Act since it first went into effect more than two decades ago.
