A trade pitch has the Detroit Red Wings trading Alex DeBrincat and a prospect to an Eastern Conference team for a star goalie.

With 11 games left, the Detroit Red Wings are running out of time to make a push for the playoffs and simply haven't done enough.

What makes matters even more bleak is that the Red Wings had a rather uninspiring 2025 NHL Trade Deadline. The Blackhawks traded for center Joe Veleno in a Deadline Day deal. In return, Detroit acquired forward Craig Smith and goalie Petr Mrazek.

The Red Wings might have snagged a solid win over the Utah Hockey Club on Monday night, but they did not have enough in the tank against the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night, losing 5-2.

This is also a favorable matchup with the Red Wings having all but dropped out of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference during their active 3-10 stretch. The Wings have a league-low 63.0 penalty-kill percentage while allowing the fifth-most goals per game.

The Detroit Red Wings need Jonatan Berggren, JT Compher & Vladimir Tarasenko to have a chance at playoff spot.
