A wintry mix this morning lingers up until mid-day before warmer temperatures move in for the afternoon helping to transition ice into a cold rain. Colder temperatures are here to stay though as we’ll see well below average temperatures for much of the week ahead.

We expect a winter storm to cause significant travel impacts and potential power outages Sunday night through Tuesday morning.

The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team has issued a Weather Alert Day for dangerously cold morning temperatures between Monday night and Thursday morning. Arctic air following Sunday and Monday's winter storm coupled with snow covered ground will make for some frigid mornings in Mid-Missouri through late week.

The potential for a glaze of ice on Sunday morning through lunch time is the reason for concern with travel and a power outage potential.
