Tesla has recalled more than 239,000 of its Model 3, S, X and Y electric vehicles due to software problems that might disable their rearview cameras.

Tesla recalled more than 239,000 vehicles because of a rearview visibility issue, according to a regulatory filing this week by the NHTSA.

Certain Tesla models have been recalled due a computer circuit board shortage causing the vehicles' rearview cameras to not display images properly.

Issuing recalls on particular makes and models is something virtually every automaker experiences. For Tesla, many of their recent recall announcements have been able to be rectified by a software update.

Tesla estimates that just 2% of the recalled vehicles actually have this defect. The automaker has identified 887 warranty claims and 68 field reports related to this issue, but it told the NHTSA that it's unaware of any related collisions, injuries, or fatalities.

Tesla issued a recall for over 200,000 electric vehicles due to an issue with its latest computer hardware that can short circuit and disable some safety features including the rearview camera. Tesla submitted the recall on January 6th,

The company, in an announcement, is recalling around 239,000 units associated with a fault in the rear-view camera system. The failure, Reuters cited, comes when a reverse current causes the camera not to function as expected and thereby represents a potential risk to safety that may result for drivers.

The Tesla Model 3, S, X, and Y are being recalled to replace their car computers because their backup cameras may not work, even after a software update.
