The number of schools closed or in a delay number in the hundreds in northern Ohio thanks to the overnight freezing rain. Most Greater Akron schools are closed. including Cuyahoga Falls, Stow-Munroe Falls and Barberton. Kent State has canceled all classes scheduled before 10 a.m. Thursday on the main campus.

Central Ohio school districts have announced delays for Thursday as freezing rain blanketed the region overnight. According to a winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service, freezing rain overnight was expected to cause slippery roads and sidewalks. The advisory remained in place until 7 a.m. Thursday.

A winter storm is predicted to move through Central Virginia on Tuesday, and several school districts in the region have begun reporting closures.
