Helene, now a weakened post-tropical cyclone, left chaos and destruction across the Southeast. A damage estimate said the storm will cost billions.

A​t least 28 people are dead in four states after Hurricane Helene made landfall and moved inland with high winds and heavy rainfall. T​he deaths include 11 in Georgia, seven in Florida, eight in South Carolina and two in North Carolina.

While Hurricane Helene is thankfully out of Florida territory leaving destruction in its wake, attempts to return to somewhat normal life are ongoing throughout the state and in Pinellas County, officials want to make sure residents who need comfort can find it in public facilities.
