With its special Nvidia chip and AI upscaling, the Nintendo Switch 2 may allow you to play at resolutions the first Switch couldn’t handle.

A newly-discovered patent from Nintendo hints at the upscaling technology that might make 4K games possible on the Switch 2.

Tying this back to the long-running rumor that the Switch 2 could sport something similar to Nvidia’s Tegra T239 chip, speculative analysis points to this being in the PS4/PS4 Pro range in terms of what the Switch 2 can actually pull off graphically.

Nintendo has just filed a patent which confirms previous reports that its Switch successor will use AI upscaling. The patent mentions Nvidia's DLSS upscaling (Deep Learning Super Sampling), which allows the hardware to run games at a higher resolution using AI techniques.

New year, new Switch 2 leaks. While Nintendo's plans for its Switch successor remain officially under wraps, a patent from the company has surfaced detailing plans to use upscaling technology to cram games with up to 4K textures onto physical game cartridges.

A new leak suggests that the highly anticipated successor to the Nintendo Switch will be released on March 28. The Italian publication UAGNA reports that this date will mark the beginning of the distribution of Nintendo Switch 2 accessories,

Nintendo announced it would share details of the successor to the Switch by the end of the fiscal year, in other words before the end of March 2025. Speculation and rumours have been in overdrive since then with a handful of official announcements scattered in between them all.
