MINNEAPOLIS — A woman and dog died after an apartment fire in northeast Minneapolis on Tuesday.

A woman and her pet dog died following a fire at a duplex in Minneapolis on Tuesday evening. The Minneapolis Fire Department says it was called at around 6:30 p.m. to the fire at the two-and-a-half story duplex at 1007 19th Ave. NE., and arrived to find "evidence of smoke on the second floor."

According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, crews were called to a duplex on the 1000 block of 19th Avenue Northeast at around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Minneapolis Fire Department said a woman and a dog were killed in a fire Tuesday night, marking the city's first fire fatality of 2025.
