New York Mets outfielder/designated hitter Jesse Winker will be out six to eight weeks because of a right oblique strain, manager Carlos Mendoza said on Monday. The Mets placed Winker on the 10-day injured list.

New York Mets designated hitter Jesse Winker is expected to miss six to eight weeks with a Grade 2 oblique strain, manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed on Monday. Mendoza also said reliever A.J. Minter will have season-ending surgery next Monday because of a torn lat muscle.

Due to Jesse Winker's oblique strain, the New York Mets had to call up Brett Baty on Monday to the big league roster. Winker, who is expected to be out for the next six to eight weeks, will be missed in the Mets' lineup.
