President-elect Donald Trump has once again asked a federal appeals court to reconsider a jury's guilty verdict that he had sexually abused writer E. Jean Carroll in the mid-1990s.

President-elect Donald Trump asked the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reconsider a $5 million verdict finding him liable for sexually abusing and defaming writer E. Jean Carroll. Trump’s lawyers filed the petition to the New York-based appeals court Tuesday,

A jury last year found that Carroll was sexually abused by Trump at a Manhattan department store in 1996 and that he defamed her in later statements.

A federal appeals court upheld a $5 million civil verdict Monday that found President-elect Donald Trump liable for defaming and sexually abusing E. Jean Carroll, rejecting his request for a new trial less than a month before he retakes office.

"To have any chance of persuading a jury, Carroll’s implausible, unsubstantiated allegations had to be—and repeatedly were—propped up by the erroneous admission of highly inflammatory...evidence."
