BS 3 petrol and BS 4 diesel cars were banned in Delhi after pollution levels breached severe category last week.

Delhi-NCR's air quality has improved, leading to the revocation of Stage-3 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). Stage-1 and -2 measures remain in effect

The Commission for Air Quality Management, responsible for air pollution mitigation in Delhi-NCR, stated that restrictions under Stage 1 and Stage 2 will remain in place.

According to forecasts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, the air quality situation is predicted to improve further owing to favourable meteorological conditions.

As the air quality in Delhi and surrounding areas improved, pollution curbs were eased to stage 2 of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in the national capital region. The decision in this reegard was taken by the Commission for Air Quality Management on Friday.

This decision follows continuous rainfall, which has helped bring down pollution levels, according to an official statement issued on Friday.

Measures under stages 1 and 2 will remain in force to manage pollution levels.

The AQI of Delhi has been continuously improving on Friday as it recorded 348 at 5 pm, 341 at 6 pm and 334 at 7 pm. According to Central Pollution Control Board the AQI in Delhi was recorded at 388 around 9 pm on December 27 which falls in the 'Very Poor' category.

However, the commision said that the measures under stages I and II would remain in force to manage pollution levels, and prevent the situation from further deterioration.
