ATLANTA — Western North Carolina is continuing to assess the full toll of the devastating impacts from Helene, with the sheriff in Buncombe County, where Asheville is located, saying as many as 1,000 people are still unaccounted for as of Sunday.

(WJBF) – Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is sending resources to help this area recover from the storm. WJBF NewsChannel 6’s Brad Means talked to the governor about the situation. Gov. Kemp says the entire state is feeling the effects of Helene. He’s asking everyone to be patient as crews work to get things back to normal.
