Many residents fled the Altadena and Pasadena area due to the blaze that has consumed more than 10,000 acres with zero containment, according to Lisa Derderian, a city of Pasadena’s information officer. More than 800 people were at the evacuation center, Red Cross volunteers said Wednesday morning.

The Eaton Fire started in the Angeles National Forest but fueled by high winds, it quickly pushed into neighborhoods in Altadena and Pasadena, north of Los Angeles. Staff at The Terraces At Park Marino sprang into action and pushed residents out in wheelchairs and hospital beds, getting them to a nearby parking lot.
