This is a small museum, but it packs a lot of information. Access to the rolling stock is limited and there isn't much of it. The steam engine is accessible and amazing. Full review by jodyr812

Well, first of all, there is a wonderful museum telling the story of the railroads in Temple and Bell County. Additionally, when we were there a week ago, there were exhibits on various aspects of Temple history including medicine & pharmacies and Temple High School band and sports programs. There is a model railroad room and also a play room for small children. I want to go back and spend more time. Now to your specific question, there are two wonderful restaurants within a 4 to 5 block walk from the depot. One is Pignetti's Italian Restaurant at 14 S. 2nd Street. The other is Cheeves Brothers Steak House at 14 E. Avenue A. We have eaten at both. They are both very nice restaurants and I believe both have lunch menus in addition to the more expensive dinner entrees. Also, across 2nd St. from Pignetti's is a Japanese restaurant called Nami. It is at 19 S. 2nd St. I hope this helps. We have eaten at all three and have been very pleased.
