I mostly took the CTA bus from downtown Chicago. As a long term resident of Chicago, car theft is common everywhere in the city and maybe higher in the Hyde park area. The underground parking garages at the MSI maybe somewhat expensive but they are definitely worth it for convenience and safety.
I am coming to Chicago the lady week of June and plan on visiting this museum on a weekday. How far in advance do I need to purchase tickets? I would like to do the submarine and coal mine add-on attractions.

I booked the submarine tour a day in advance. It was full when we got there so worth reserving in advance
