You can do it in an hour or less. There's also a small museum($4 fee I think)and film that can be seen in 1/2 hour to 3/4 hour. During the first week of October they do have a …

You can do it in an hour or less. There's also a small museum($4 fee I think)and film that can be seen in 1/2 hour to 3/4 hour. During the first week of October they do have a reenactment with some walking tours of parts of the battlefield. Whenever they have a national event that weekend it's a lot more fun plus a lot more rein-actors. If you are looking for a lunch spot Danville or Springfield have more options.
Q:
are dogs allowed into the museum to see the informative video? Hate to leave them in the car.
A:
I would contact the museum just to be certain. If not, you should be able to tie him up at a shelter that's right by it. I doubt anyone would bother him there.
